Pitbull fighting dogs are abandoned, one of them was caring for his injured friend.
The life of a fighting dog is very sad, they are not cared for or loved, they are forced to fight horribly and if they don’t, they end up like Layla and Gracie.
Two Pitbull mix dogs were found in a park, on the verge of death, but what touched the hearts of the people who rescued them was that while one of them couldn’t even get up from his pain, his faithful canine companion, also abandoned under crucial circumstances, was taking care of him.
Because they made a call to the right people, these two dogs were helped and the authorities also became involved in finding those responsible for the animal cruelty.
Pitbull fighting dogs left on the brink of death
Dogs are loyal to their owners, but also their friends in the same pack. Layla and Gracie were abandoned like trash in a park near Philadelphia, USA. They were both in very poor health, but especially Gracie, who didn’t even have the strength to get up, so her partner settled on her to keep her warm.
People passing by the thought they were dead told the authorities, where Officer Harper was. He can’t believe that they had indications of beatings, however not abuse caused by a human, but rather that they were fighting dogs.
The officer who also serves an animal organization called Justice Rescue approached them and that’s when the Pitbull dog in better condition approached her, but she thought he was going to hit her since she closed her eyes and lowered her head.
“Layla came up to me wagging her tail, but with her eyes closed, as if she thought she was going to be hit,” Harper said.
When he gained the trust of both dogs with petting and praise, he was able to safely approach them to put on a vest so they would certainly not get colder and go to the vet to be evaluated.
The canines had recent injuries and when they were evaluated, they realized they were only 2 years old and had been cruelly exploited. However, the dog that was in critical condition was Gracie.
Treatment began for both, and although Gracie remained in a more serious condition when she looked at her rescuer, she showed joy and even wanted to play with him a bit. She was not aggressive, she was gentle and a few days later she had more strength, although she still had a long way to go.
“They love affection, they just don’t know what to do with it,” Harper said.
Because of the medical interest, they both had, they were able to get through it. The truth was in 2017, but it’s still shocking to acknowledge because this is the situation many strong breeds of dogs face. Surely both were recovering little by little because in the last visual posts on Facebook we saw that both had a satisfactory recovery.
