A rare dog was rescued by officers from a frozen lake.
Spanish police officers wade into a frozen lake to rescue a dog trapped in the icy waters.
Amazing and wonderful officers!!!
We have seen many stories of people braving the elements to save a trapped animal.
The incident occurred in Aragon, eastern Spain, according to Reuters: Two Spanish police officers went above and beyond the call of duty by swimming into a frozen lake to rescue a dog trapped in the icy water.
It was no small feat: the reservoir was visibly frozen, and the officers, stripped to the waist, swam through chunks of ice to reach the helpless animal. The area had reportedly experienced a cold front with heavy snow and high winds.
A quote from Gandhi: “The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.”
After they get their hands on the dog, they bring it to shore.
The officers claim the dog had been in the water for “a long time” before they received the report that morning.
He and a co-worker then managed to clear a path for the dog to swim to safety before all three of them made it back to shore.
It is unknown if the dog was a stray or someone’s pet, and where it was taken next, thanks to the officers who braved the cold to save its life.
Heroes! They risked their lives, they could have ended up in a bad situation too. Glad they saved the dog and are okay.
God bless those police officers for saving the dog trapped in the icy river!
