An owner bought a cat in 1988, he probably didn’t expect to throw him a birthday party 30 years later.

The cat you can see in the pictures is named Rubble and lives in Exeter, UK. Rubble is a special cat and is certainly one of the oldest felines in the world, as he celebrated his 30th birthday not so long ago. Cats may have 9 lives, but by all accounts, Rubble has already outlived them all.

Rubble and his owner Michele Foster have been together since 1988. Mrs. Foster believes that Rubble has lived to this age because she pampers him every day like a child. She handles him with passion and care, although she admits he can be grumpy at times, probably because of his advanced age. “I don’t think he’ll make it into the Guinness Book of World Records because he just doesn’t like having a lot of people around him. He’s old and he probably acts like it,” Michele said with a laugh.

According to the Guinness World Book of Records, the longest living cat lived for nearly 40 years and was named Puff Creme. Yet Michele is impressed with Rubble’s incredible “feat” and remembers the day she met him as if it were yesterday. She was lonely at the time and decided to take a cat from a litter of her sister’s friend. She has never regretted that decision.

Michele and Rubble have had their share of frequent moves, but they are happy together. She treats him like her own child and thinks that’s the secret to Rubble’s longevity.

Of course, Rubble has experienced some health problems in his late 30s. He suffers from high blood pressure and has to take medication regularly. Yet, he is quite strong for a cat of his age and, according to his vet, he is in very good health.

We salute Rubble’s “achievement” and wish him good health for the years to come.

“He was part of a litter of my sister’s friend’s cats, and I had just moved out of the house and needed a pet,” Michele says.

Since then, they have been inseparable.

Rubble is approaching the age of the last world record holder – a cat named Crème Puff died at the age of 38.

Rubble celebrated his last birthday at the vet’s office, where he received a free checkup and cat food.
He was on medication for high blood pressure, but was in perfect health.

Rubble is probably the oldest cat in the world right now.
