Bob, a street cat who helped a homeless man change his life
Meet James Bowen, a homeless street musician, and his feline companion, Bob. When James meets Bob, little does he know that his life will be changed forever and that their relationship will attract fans from all over the world.
James has had a difficult life in the past as he struggled with drug addiction. Unfortunately, his family and friends abandoned him, and he was forced to live on the streets. He ate out of garbage cans and tried to earn money by panhandling on the sidewalks.
That’s when he met Bob, the ginger street cat who came into his life out of nowhere. In the hallway of his building, he discovered Bob. Despite his difficult situation, Jame could not help this intelligent and sick cat.
He named the cat Bob and decided to take care of Bob himself until he was healthy again. He spent a lot of money to take Bob to the vet so he could get well. After that, he sent the cat away to find a better home, but Bob kept coming back to him. At that point, Jame knew they were inseparable.
James even starved himself to make sure his friend was fed and had medicine. Bob soon accompanied James as he begged on the streets of London, and they became famous. People would crowd around James and Bob, asking for pictures.
After his fame on the Internet and in the media, Mary, a journalist, offered to write a book about James and Bob, and James accepted.
When James’ book “A Street Cat Named Bob” became one of the best selling novels in England for 52 weeks and sold in 26 countries around the world, it became a worldwide sensation.
In 2016, director Roger Spottiswoode made a film based on the book A Street Cat Named Bob by James Bowen.
