One rescued puppy has a tail on his forehead and is “perfectly healthy”
Founder Rochelle Steffen told ABC News that they found the adorable light brown dog in a landfill in rural Jackson, Missouri, where she said “hundreds” [of dogs] were dumped.
The 10-week-old ball of fur, who was rescued by Mac’s Mission – a nonprofit dog shelter that primarily helps puppies with special needs – has a small tail-like growth on her forehead.
Founder Rochelle Steffen told ABC News that they found the adorable light brown dog at a landfill in rural Jackson, Missouri, where she says “hundreds” [of dogs] have been abandoned.
“He had x-rays and a vet visit yesterday and is a perfectly healthy puppy with an extra tail on his face,” she explained. “There is no medical need to remove it right now and it is one-third the size of his actual tail.”
Even though the unicorn tail makes Narwhal “the coolest puppy in the world,” the rescue organization said the tail does not wag.
The adorable light brown boy with a black nose and big brown eyes is believed to be a Daschund and Beagle mix, according to Steffen.
“He is painless and plays for hours,” she added.
Mac’s Mission focuses on helping dogs with deformities, clefts and trauma, “because these dogs are euthanized far more than others and there is a great need to give them a chance,” Steffens said. “We are giving them that chance.”
Because the nonprofit’s rescue efforts are strictly social media based, Steffens said Narwhal’s story of getting so much attention has been “very important for many people to find out about our awesome little rescue.”
“We really love our little Narwhal and the others he helps here with the attention!”.
