A retired police dog can’t help but cry after his former master decided to pay him a surprise visit. The heartwarming scene was captured on camera and has melted the hearts of internet users.

Wangwang, an 8-year-old German shepherd, used to work as a sniffer dog at security checkpoints in Xichuan County, China. But in June 2019, the loyal dog retired and naturally, she and her handler went their separate ways. While Wangwang was adopted by an adorable family, her handler continued to work as a patrol officer. So, last month, he was patrolling the neighborhood where his former fur partner lives and decided to visit her.

The reunion was heartbreaking for both of them, but Wangwang couldn’t hold back her tears when she spotted the man she loved so much. In adorable images shared by Xichuan police on Douyin, China’s version of TikTok, the retired dog can be seen running enthusiastically towards his master. Then the tears started to flow!

“Wangwang’s hair is turning white but she’s well fed, she’s getting bigger,” Douyin’s post read. “It is always hard to say goodbye to your boyfriend.”

The touching reunion won the hearts of everyone on the Internet. “Dogs are truly loyal companions, please treat her well!” one user commented. While another wrote, “You can tell how much her owner misses Wangwang. You can understand when the dog greets you with her belly up.”
