Sad And Scared Dog Lifts Head So Woman Knew She Was Alive and Puts Paw In Her Hand

When an animal rescuer named Judy saw a dog on the side of the road, she of course immediately stopped her vehicle.
On this busy road, countless cars must have passed this poor puppy without any of them stopping to help him. And it was more than obvious that this Pit Bull was injured.
Judy got out of her car and tried to call the dog to her, but the puppy couldn’t move. She was in a lot of pain. Judy approached and the sweet dog used what little energy she had left to roll onto her back and wag her tail. This was her way of saying, “I’m a good dog and I won’t hurt you. Can you help me now?”
With a little determination, Judy managed to get the Pittie into her car. The puppy seemed withdrawn and exhausted. Judy reached out and the dog put his paw in. They drove that way for the 20 minutes it took to get to the vet clinic. Paw in hand, as if the duo were officially fighting together to get this dog the help he needed.
Judy had assumed that the Pittie had been hit by a car, but the vet confirmed that this was not the case. She had old fractures that were quite telling. Someone had injured this poor dog and then dumped her on the side of the road like she was trash. Judy wanted to give this dog an appropriate name… Mercy.
Mercy has slowly begun to recover. Fortunately, she was interested in food and Judy fed her in the palm of her hand. Judy wanted to make sure Mercy was comfortable in her kennel at the clinic. She gave her a pink stuffed rabbit and Mercy became attached to her new toy.
The rescue group provided Mercy with a wheelchair, but she didn’t appreciate it at all. In fact, it motivated her to walk on her own the next day! Sure, she struggled, but Mercy showed that she was willing to do whatever she could to get better.
As Mercy continued to heal, her story was shared on Facebook. Mark and Sharon saw Mercy’s photos and knew this puppy belonged to them. They contacted Judy and told her that a loving home was waiting for her, with a big yard. Judy knew this family was Mercy’s destiny.
When the time came for Mercy to come home, it was such a celebration. She met her new parents with her tail wagging and her favorite bunny in her mouth. Sharon explains in the video below that her bunny, “her baby,” goes everywhere with her. It’s the cutest thing ever.
A few months later, Judy went to visit Mercy. Mark couldn’t wait to show Judy what Mercy could do now. They went to the big yard and Mark threw Mercy’s tennis ball with a pitcher. The ball went far and Mercy ran after it, full speed ahead, as if nothing had happened to her. It was amazing. The dog who couldn’t even stand up was now completely recovered.
Mercy’s story could not have ended any better. Thank you so much to Judy and TAO Animal Rescue, the medical staff and Mercy’s new parents for giving her the life she deserves. To read Mercy’s full story by The Dodo, scroll down the page.
